インターネットを活用して車内で情報をやりとりできるシステムや、車載蓄電池とＩＴを駆使して効率的な電力使用を可能にするための関連技術を共同開発することなどが、提携の対象となりそうだ。

　トヨタはプラグインハイブリッド車（ＰＨＶ）を使ったスマートグリッド（次世代送電網）の実証実験などを実施。自動車のバッテリーを有効活用して二酸化炭素（ＣＯ２）の排出量を減らす試みも行っており、こうした分野での共同開発などが検討されるとみられる。
